Every project is a bit different, but in general, I’ll need:
- Information about your brand (who are you?)
- Information about your audience (who do you serve?)
- Information about your goals (what do you want to achieve?)
- Information about your strategy (how do you want to get there?)
After reaching out, here’s what a typical project flow will look like:
- We’ll discuss the exact scope of the project (specific deliverables & details, timeline, and budget).
- You’ll fill out a short questionnaire that gives me insight into your project. Once you complete this, I’ll take a look and send any follow-up questions if necessary. The delivery timeline begins once I have all the information needed to get started.
- I’ll begin my research and drafting phase. This is the longest step (for me). This is where I plan out the strategy based on market research, instructions you may have, and current trends.
- Once I have a draft, I’ll usually spend some time AWAY from the project. This helps make sure I’m 100% focused and refreshed before editing.
- I’ll edit everything, polish up the drafts, and then send you the deliverable. Typically I provide 3 days for you to review everything and provide feedback. If requested, this may be extended up to 7 days.
- If there are any changes needed, I’ll make them ASAP. If not — then you can take the copy and start implementing the strategies!
Steps 3 & 4 are all behind the scenes — but I’m all about transparency. If you have any questions at all during the process, just reach out!
For large-scale projects, I’m happy to jump on a quick 15-min call to meet once an order is placed. It’s always great to put a face to a name — especially for long-term partnerships!
For quick or one-off projects, I don’t offer complimentary video calls, but I do offer paid consultations if you’d like.
At the end of the day — calls are a great way to connect, clear up last-minute doubts, and build trust. But as a copywriter, they’re not an effective way to go through a brief. So even if we have a call — I’ll still ask my clients to provide written instructions to ensure that I deliver top-quality work.
Naturally I do my best to provide every client with a delivery that I’m proud of. But we’re all human and sometimes we get our wires crossed.
And sometimes my clients have their eureka moment after the delivery.
This is why I always offer 1 free round of revisions. Professional, supportive feedback is a natural part of the copywriting process (a copywriter is part of your team, after all).
My only request is that clients provide me with highly detailed feedback on exactly what they want changed, and what they want the final delivery to look like. Great communication makes sure that we’re on the same page — and that any changes can be made in a timely manner.
Examples of collaborative feedback:
✅ This section doesn’t quite match the brand voice. Could we replace “x” with a more energetic tone?
✅ Could we focus more on [pain point 1] here instead?
✅ Let’s make this section more concise.
✅ I’m not a fan of this header. Do you have any other ideas that incorporate a witty tone?
Examples of unhelpful feedback
❌ I don’t like this.
❌ Could you make the copy stronger?
❌ Could you make this sound more original?
In short — I’m 100% open to constructive feedback and I’m more than happy to go through a revision phase. It’s a completely normal part of collaborating with creative professionals 😊
